To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen has a warrant out for his arrest after missing a court date in Michigan, but the star has revealed it was the result of a miscommunication.

According to WLNS, the TV personality was subpoenaed to be in court Thursday in Shiawassee County but failed to return discovery materials related to a sex trafficking case.

The case involved three suspects who were arrested after allegedly showing up to a hotel to have sex with a minor between the ages of 13 to 15, but they were unknowingly speaking with an officer online.

Shiawassee County Prosecuting Attorney Scott Koerner confirmed to NBC 25 that a bench warrant was issued for the case related to an October sting operation.

According to Mr Koerner, Mr Hansen was supposed to present records related to the Shiawassee County sting operation that the TV star was involved in.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Hansen revealed the issue stemmed from ‘miscommunication about a hearing.

‘The court matter in Shiawassee County, Michigan today resulted from a predator investigation there. Defense lawyers for accused predator Michael Lott had requested video from the investigation,’ he wrote. ‘There was a miscommunication about a hearing today on the issue. The matter is currently being resolved!’

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson invited Hansen to take part in a press conference about the police operation in October.

‘We worked with Chris Hansen to use his platform to reignite the awareness and the enforcement of what’s happening here and to duplicate it around the nation,’ Mr Swanson told NBC 25 at the time.

NBC’s To Catch a Predator ended in 2007.
