Over the past few weeks, fans have been speculating that the 41-year-old reality star might be wearing the iconic sparkling, flesh-colored dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she famously sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy back in 1962.

The rumors started at the premiere of The Kardashians in early April when she teased her Met Gala outfit and if she and boyfriend Pete Davidson will be attending together.
“I’m not sure,” Kim told Access Hollywood. “You’re gonna have to wait and find out. I think we’re still figuring it out.”
She then admitted that her own attendance at this year’s event is still up in the air due to her outfit.
“It really depends if I fit into my dress, so I hope I’m going,” Kim explained. “I think it will be up to the last minute because it can’t be tailored, so I have to fit into it like exactly.”
Then on Saturday (April 23) when Kim and Pete, 28, were spotted in Orlando, Florida visiting Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, which is where Marilyn‘s dress is stored.
Kim and Pete reportedly spent over three hours at Ripley’s, according to The Sun.
Ripley’s purchased the dress from Julien’s Auction back on November 17, 2016 at a staggering $5 million, making it the most expensive dress in the world!
If Kim really is wearing Marilyn‘s dress to the event, her comment where she said her dress “can’t be tailored” makes a lot of sense. The dress also fits this year’s theme of “Glided Glamour.”
Marilyn wore the dress, which was designed by was Bob Mackie, to a fundraiser on May 19, 1962 in honor of President JFK‘s 45 birthday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. During the event, she took to the stage and famously sang of “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to JFK.
If Kim does end up wearing Marilyn‘s dress to this year’s Met Gala, it would be a big change from the completely covered up outfit she wore to last year’s event.
We’re just going to have to wait and see if Kim really does wear the dress on Monday!
