Linda Nolan thought about taking her own life after the loss of her husband Brian Hudson one year after she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Nolan Sisters star, whose cancer has now spread to her liver, received the heart breaking news she had cancer in 2006.

Tragically she lost her husband of 26 years to the disease in 2007 which sent her spiralling into depression.

The 62-year-old told The Mirror that she has been missing her husband’s support at such a tough time.

‘I always think if he was here, he’d sort it. When I had cancer in 2006, I’d wake up in the night feeling rubbish and he’d rub my back, giving me what I needed. I miss him every day. I had depression when I lost him and I still suffer now, but it’s under control,’ she said.

Adding that she felt ‘suicidal’ after Brian’s death, she continued: ‘I was assisted by a mental health crisis team. A psychiatrist came to see me, with these two big burly men who were nurses.

‘Later, I realised if it hadn’t gone well, they’d have carted me off. My local mental health team were amazing. They told me I had nothing to lose and to give them a chance because they felt they could help me.’

It is the third time the illness has returned following her initial diagnosis, and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.

She recently confessed that she is ‘scared to death of dying’ after more tumours were found on her liver.

‘He turned to me and said the CT scan had shown something on my liver again. I asked if it was cancer and he said yes.

‘It’s scary, I’m not going to lie. I try to be upbeat and positive but I had a really bad day when I got back.’

Linda has said she doesn’t want to know her prognosis but hopes to be around for ‘a few more Christmases’.
