Rebel Wilson has spoken of her pride in prioritising becoming ‘a healthier version’ of herself as she reflected on her ‘year of health’, which saw her overhaul her lifestyle.

The 41-year-old Aussie actress revealed that her 66lb weight loss had been about the journey of changing her habits and outlook so she could become ‘the healthiest version of me’, rather than focusing on ‘a number or dress size’.

Speaking on The Weekend Briefing podcast on LiSTNR on Saturday, Rebel explained: ‘It wasn’t about losing a set amount of weight, although I did put a goal originally of 75 kilos (165lbs) so I could have something tangible to work towards. But it’s really not about a number or a dress size, or anything like that.

‘It was just about being the healthiest version of me and I dedicated all of 2020 to doing that, and I’m proud of myself.’

The Pitch Perfect star also laughed about ‘shamelessly’ sharing photos of herself on Instagram, as she explained it was both a celebration of her achievement, as well as to hold herself to account.

‘Sorry if I annoy some people. I feel really good within myself and I like to celebrate the journey,’ she said.

Explaining that it was ‘all good and well just having a little experiment’ that you don’t tell people about, Rebel continued: ‘Whereas if I tell the whole world on social media, then that’s pretty good motivation.’

The Bridesmaids actress opened up about her journey and its reasons in an interview with Shape, where she revealed she’d visited a wellness retreat, which kick-started her changes.

‘I get a little emotional when I ask myself why I didn’t care about my health before this. It just wasn’t a priority, and I didn’t know how to do it right,’ she admitted to the publication.

However, she was motivated to embrace her health in a bid to improve her fertility in the hopes of having a baby.

The star, who has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), went on: ‘I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, “Okay, I’m going to do this, I’m going to get healthy”.’

Rebel recently wrapped filming on comedy Senior Year, which is due for release in 2022, and was spotted relaxing in Saint-Tropez with a male pal shortly after – and giving us all major yacht envy.
